Dr. Matt Leara was raised in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri and graduated valedictorian of his high school class. He graduated veterinary school from the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine. He immediately moved to Denver, Colorado and worked at a large, 10 doctor small animal practice for the next 6 years.
Kristin grew up in Honolulu and always knew she wanted to become a veterinarian. She worked kennel shifts in high school which solidified her goals to be an animal advocate and enrich the human-animal bond. Kristin attended a liberal arts college knowing she would be practicing medicine later in life.
Naomi is from Honolulu and graduated from UH Manoa with a bachelor of science degree in Animal Science. She started at Animal Clinic of Honolulu as a kennel assistant and worked her way up to veterinary assistant until she got accepted to Veterinary School at Ross University. She finished her clinical training at Kansas State University and started with us in July 2021. She lives with her family and is looking forward to starting a family of her own with her absolute favorite breed--Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She enjoys caring for succulents, hiking, and binge watching her favorite shows on Netflix.
Amelia joined Animal Clinic of Honolulu's reception team in September of 2011. Originating from the Bay Area of California, Amelia moved to Hawaii at the age of 4 where she grew up on both the Windward and Leeward sides of Oahu. Amelia received her high school diploma from Mililani High School in 1998 and in 2002 she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. After receiving her degree, Amelia relocated to San Francisco, California where she managed the customer service department of Pets Unlimited, a 24 hour Non-Profit Veterinary Hospital, Shelter and Adoption Center. Amelia is passionate about animal welfare and enjoys providing assistance and support to both the animal community and to pet guardians. Amelia resides in Honolulu with her husband Steven, her 2 daughters, and her adorable dog Tulip.

Lyla has 3 children and enjoys playing with her many cats. She has been working at Animal Clinic of Honolulu since 2010. Her future goals are to learn to play the guitar and piano, and to continue working with animals.

Priscilla joined our team in February 2022. She was born and raised in Hawaii and graduated from Kapiolani Community College and University of Hawaii Manoa West Oahu. This is her first time working in an Animal Hospital and she hopes to learn a lot. In her free time she enjoys reading and hiking.
Sydni started with Animal Clinic of Honolulu in July 2021. She is currently in school and working part time during the summer months. She enjoys spending time with her friends, her sister, and her 3 cute dogs. She enjoys going to the beach, gaming, hiking, rock climbing, fishing, biking, soccer, volleyball, all types of dance, karate, and anything that requires physical activity.
Daniel joined Animal Clinic of Honolulu in August 2013. Daniel has been in the veterinary field for 10+ years with an interest in obedience training. He has experience with small, large and exotic animals; he was one of the technicians at the Honolulu Zoo. In his spare time, he focuses on obedience training and dog shows. He enjoys taking his dogs Dolly, Fanta, Bailey, and Sophie to the beach and being attacked by his cat Steve.

Hannah is from Honolulu and joined our staff in December 2016. She is a certified Veterinary Assistant. She is attending WCC for Veterinary Technology. She had also worked at Poi Dogs and Popoki and the OSPCA. She has an 18 pound black domestic shorthair named Crash that she spoils along with the help of her parents. Crash is very active and loves to explore the outdoors. Hannah hopes to complete her degree in veterinary technology and eventually start a service/therapy animal dispatch service.

Ashley was born and raised in Hawaii on Oahu. She graduated from McKinley High School, Kapiolani Community College and UH Manoa. She is currently also working as a Barista at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. She recently joined Animal Clinic of Honolulu taking care of all of our wonderful boarders. She is a cat lover at heart but she also has multiple fish, mainly tetras. She is also hoping to get a dog in the near future. In her spare time she loves the outdoors--hiking, swimming, etc. She also enjoys video games and watching movies. She hopes to gain a lot of knowledge and hands on experience and learn new things in the treatment area.

Sophia was born and raised in Honolulu. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and received her associates degree from KCC. She graduated from the veterinary technician program at Windward Community College. She also works at Diane Von Furstenberg as a fashion merchandising stylist. Sophia has a family dog named Gakkdugi (which means radish kimchi in Korean) whom she considers a brother. She and her husband also have a little Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix named Luna whom they consider their daughter. Both dogs were adopted and are loved like children. In her free time, Sophia has many interests and hobbies but her favorite ones are drawing/sketching art and reading novels. She achieved her goal to become a veterinary technician so she can be in the medical field and make a difference in animals' lives.

Candice was born and raised on Oahu. She recently joined the Animal Clinic of Honolulu Staff in July after graduating from Veterinary Technician School at Windward Community College. She has a small farm at home with 2 rescue birds (a Bulbul and a Zebra Dove) and her 2 cats. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and son.

Deni joined our team in 2021 after graduating Windward Community College Veterinary Technician program. She is currently studying hard to pass her Veterinary Technician Certification test.
Juria joined Animal Clinic of Honolulu in February 2022. She graduated Kalani High School and graduated from the Windward Community College Veterinary Technician program. Juria has a small family of her own as she owns 5 cats and 4 dogs. She also spends a lot of time and really enjoys fostering rescue cats. She participates in TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) in an effort to control the stray cat population. In her free time she enjoys traveling and experiencing different cultures.
Ashley is originally from Maui where she worked at the Humane Society for 2 years and then at a private practice for another year. She went to college on Oahu and always wanted to move back but frequently goes back to Maui to spend time with friends and family. She has 5 cats total but only 1 here on Oahu with her--this one was a foster that she ended up keeping. In her spare time she enjoys going to the beach, hiking, trying new food, or staying home with her cat and reading.
Megan was born and raised here on Oahu. She attended Sacred Hearts Academy and graduated in 2014. She spent 2 years at Poi Dogs Daycare and Boarding taking care of large groups of dogs. She also spent some time working with students at Ali'iolani Elementary School and Saint Louis High School. She has a large family with 2 older brothers and 2 nephews and 2 nieces. Her 4 legged family members include two terrier mixes and 5 cats. If you included all the strays she takes care of she would have over 15 cats! In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and animals. She also enjoys shopping and reading along with binge watching her favorite shows on Netflix. Her goal is to travel a lot and to try new foods from all over the world. She would also like to someday be involved in animal rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing.
